proClaimer Appraisal Hardware Lock

Our security against un-authorized copying of proClaimer Appraisal is done by embedding into the program the purchaser's name, address, and phone numbers in an encrypted format.  This encrypted information is used to print the heading on every report printed by PCA, and although this does not stop un-authorized copies, it does make it difficult to use someone else's copy of PCA.

Many adjusters and storm troopers need to be able to change the encrypted information that prints as the heading on all reports to match the actual company the work is being performed for, and the hardware lock gives us the ability to allow for this situation.

A "hardware lock" is a small device that plugs into a computer's printer port and provides us with a way to move our encrypted data out of the software and into the "hardware lock".  These versions of PCA allow the owner to change the encrypted heading information at will, and even create a database of different headings to choose from.  The hardware lock has to be present during all operations of PCA and we check for it's existence regularly during all the editing and printing routines.

With a "hardware lock", PCA can be installed on several computers, but will only function on the computer that has the hardware lock plugged into a parallel printer port.  These "hardware locks" are inline devices, so a separate port is not necessary, and the hardware lock will not interfere with normal printing operations.

Historically, only a few people have desired this ability.  If you are not sure if you need a hardware locked version of PCA, please contact us for more information.
